Keep Kids Healthy all Summer with an Annual Wellness Exam!

Well child visits aren’t just for babies and toddlers.  Wellness exams are an important part of maintaining the health of your child.  When your child is healthy is actually the best time for your Provider to examine your overall growth and development.  Coast Community Health Center is scheduling annual wellness exams now to ensure kids stay healthy all summer long.

At a well child visit, the Provider will record height, weight, and other important information.  Your child may be screened for hearing or vision, and may receive immunizations or be scheduled for any recommended immunizations.  According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, these wellness visits will help Providers offer preventative medicine and ways to improve your child’s care and health.

What else can you expect to discuss at a well child visit?  Your Provider may talk to you about your child’s sleep, safety in the home or during sports, childhood diseases, or what you can expect in different developmental stages of growth.  Your Provider will pay special attention to your child’s growth compared to normal milestones.  You may also discuss your child’s body mass index which is the most important tool for identifying and preventing obesity.
