Coast Community Heath Center hosted more than 150 guests for an open house and ribbon cutting at the new Bandon health clinic September 27.

“Our beautiful new facility is fully staffed and offers excellent health care for all ages. We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve the Bandon, Port Orford, and Agness areas,” said Beth Wood, vice chairwoman for the health center board of directors.

Former board member Joe Sinko congratulated the group and said the expanded space for patient care, as well as new staff, are a good investment of resources.

Ambassadors from the Bandon Chamber of Commerce helped kick off the event with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Open house guests enjoyed tours of the facility and a BBQ lunch served by the Bandon High School Cheer Team. For many, it was their first visit to the new clinic.

Maryann Ulmer said updated staff photos in the reception area are a nice touch, especially for new patients.

“It’s nice to have a picture of the people who are going to be helping them,” said Ulmer.

The clinic floor plan and design earned a positive nod from Ava Bernstein, who said the colors are inviting, a welcome change from the often drab colors associated with medical facilities.

Health center staff guided visitors through the new clinic and took time to visit with established patients and newcomers.

“I got to meet just the right people,” said Jeff Stitt.

Stitt introduced himself to Family Nurse Practitioner Debra Guzman and Dr. Hank Holmes during his tour.

The open house was a huge success, according to Wood, an opportunity to showcase the work of the many volunteers and staff who have contributed to the organization’s growth.
